Joint
Heirs with Messiah
Yahweh's
Spirit itself testifies with our spirit, that we are the children of Yahweh;
and if children, then heirs; heirs of Yahweh, and joint-heirs with Yahshua,
since we suffer with Him, in order that we may also be glorified with
Him. (Romans 8:16-17)
As
believers in Yahshua, what is our inheritance? Is it some "spiritual
Disneyland" called heaven? Are we going to lay on clouds and walk
"those streets of gold" forever? Let us look at Scripture and
see what we are going to inherit as the children of our Heavenly Father Yahweh!
We who are saved under grace are heirs of the promises given in a conditional
will. We shall be heirs of eternal life and the Kingdom of Yahweh.
Rav Shaul states so in Titus 3:4-7, Rom. 8:16, Gal. 3:29, and Gal. 4:7. He
also adds in Ephesians chapter 1 that we are sealed with the Ruach of the
promise, which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of our
body.
Ya'akov (James) and Kepha (Peter) also stated the same in James 2:5 and I Peter
3:7. Yahshua Himself said in Matthew 25:31-34 (when the goats are
separated from the sheep), "Come, the blessed of my Father, inherit the
Kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world."
Our pursuit of this Kingdom is active, not passive. We must show diligence
and patience (Phil. 2:12, Heb. 1:2, Col. 3:23). We must not become
sluggish
Given
to Father Avraham and the Messiah Yahshua
Where
is this will that promises us eternal life and the Kingdom? It was given
to Avraham by and through the Messiah in the Avrahamic covenant (see Gal.
3:15). A covenant, called a brit in Hebrew, is a will, an agreement, a
legal contract, or even a marriage contract. It is connected with the idea
of shedding blood, eating food or meat. In ancient Hebrew culture, the
brit was sealed with a covenant meal between the parties involved.
Yahweh's brit with Avraham, with his seed (zerah), can never be annulled!
This seed spoken of in Galatians is the Messiah Yahshua. It was given by
promise (debar), which means to give one's word, and Yahweh cannot lie! He
swore by an oath by His own set-apart Name - Yahweh. So, the promise was
given to his seed, the Messiah.
Given
Legally to the Seed
The
question is, how can we share in that inheritance given to Avraham and the
Messiah? It is by adoption into the family of Yahweh by faith in
Yahshua. The rights of adoption were given to the Israelites, all 12
tribes. Rav Shaul said, "the Israelites, to whom pertain the adoption
and glory. . ." Rom. 9:3-5. This right to adopt then passed to the
Israelite Yahshua, given to Him by means of Him qualifying for the inheritance
(Eph. 1:5). Shaul says all things are headed up in Messiah, ". . . in
Him, in Whom also we obtained an inheritance. . ." Eph. 1:10-12.
Those following Yahweh are looking forward to their full adoption as sons and
daughters (Rom. 8:22). To receive that adoption, Yahweh Yahu (the
Word-Yahshua) was sent to earth as a man, see Gal. 4:4-7. This adoption
gives us the status as heirs (Rom. 8:12-17).
What is the
inheritance?
What is
the inheritance given to Avraham and his Seed (Messiah) and the joint-heirs of
the promise? They are found in the Book of Bereshit (Genesis) chapters 12,
13, 15, 17, 18 and 21. They include the promises to make a great nation
out of Avraham, not only one but many nations; to make kings, to give a blessing
(eternal life), and to give a great Name (i.e. the Name of Yahweh).
Avraham and his seed (and Seed) would be very fruitful and fill the whole earth,
and inherit the land (eretz). These were to be eternal promises!
Yahweh said they are for "olam" forever, or eternal! Tehillim (Psalms)
105:6-11 says Yahweh will give the land of Israel to the Israelites because,
"He will remember His covenant with Avraham, and Ya'akov (Israel) and it is
their inheritance forever." Yahshua said the meek shall inherit
"the land" (Matt. 5:5; Ps. 37:9, 11, 12). It is from this land
Messiah will rule the earth from the city of Yerushalayim. And, the
Renewed Yerushalayim will be on that land!
The promises to Avraham include a residence in that Renewed Yerushalayim, on a
renewed (chadash) earth and heavens, not in heaven, but upon the earth
forever! See Hebrews 11:9. You have an inheritance there, too.
You'll walk through one of the 12 gates for the 12 tribes of Israel! See
Rev. 21:12.
"The name of the city of my Elohim" is the Renewed Yerushalayim, the
city of Yahweh, and Yahweh Shammah, or Yahweh is there! See Is. 60:14;
Ezek. 48:35; Rev. 21:1-2.
But the inheritance does not stop there! There is a promise of kings to be
fulfilled! We will inherit the Kingdom of Yahweh, the government (meaning
positions of authority and ruling with Messiah Yahshua on His throne!).
Even more, we will inherit ALL things (Rev. 21:7) - even the universe (see Rom.
4:13). Yahweh's throne rules the universe, and if we rule with Him - WOW -
this is all ours!
The
resurrection and eternal life
You are
asking, "If I am dead, how will I inherit all these promises?"
It is necessary that to inherit eternal life, one must die. This will
require a resurrection from the dead (see I Cor. 15:12-21). Yahweh must
resurrect all the dead who are to be heirs, so they might inherit the promises.
Eternal ownership requires eternal life! Once Yahweh gives you an
inheritance of the land for eternity, He must also give you eternal life, or the
promise is annulled. We know that it can never fail because of His oath to
our Father Avraham! It is an eternal covenant, with eternal promises given
to the seed (plural) of Avraham, Israel.
YOU can be an heir to all these promises by repenting of your sins (law
breaking), receiving Yahshua as your Redeemer and the Messiah of ALL Israel, and
walking in the commandments of Yahweh. We have a merciful and gracious
Elohim, Who wants ALL men to come to repentance and knowledge of Him. We
invite you to join us in a Restored Kingdom of Israel, the Tabernacle of the
Greater David, Yahshua. We shall be ONE in His hand! Praise Yah, and
His set-apart Name!
Shalom B'Shem Yahshua - Rabbi Ed
